HEADLINES: DOWN GOES GODZILLA!…MOTHRA LIVES TO SEE ANOTHER DAY!…FREDERICK NEW RPV CHAIR!…REPORTED - CROPS ACROSS COMMONWEALTH SUDDENLY WITHER AND DIE! COINCIDENCE?
To paraphrase Mr. T: “I pity the fools!”
RPV’s state convention meets today in Richmond to determine whether former Gov. Jim “I flunked Accounting 101″ Gilmore or Del. Robert “Sideshow Bob” Marshall (R-Proud White County) wins the Republican [...]

Many local Democrats are of the opinion that VA House Speaker Bill Howell would be vulnerable in next year’s elections if a serious challenger stepped up. Especially with the recent transportation disaster and voter dissatisfaction with Richmond in general. Stranger things have happened. Just ask voters in Tom Foley or Denny Hastert’s districts.
And allegations like this certainly [...]

Sen. John McCain says the reason he opposes Sen. Jim Webb’s G.I. Bill is because, according to a study, it would decrease troop retention rates by 16%. According to that same exact study, the bill would increase troop levels by……16%!
What do you expect from a guy who thinks Al Qaeda is in Iran, has to be [...]

After Del. Albert Pollard won the special election in the 99th last February to fill Rep. Rob Wittman’s old seat, he was sworn in the very next day. But because it was so late in the session, Speaker Bill Howell did not assign Pollard to any committees…until now.
Due to Del. Pollard’s extensive background in agricultural and enviornmental [...]

Tim Craig has a thought-provoking post up on his blog about what to look for at this weekend’s GOP Senate nominating convention. Former Gov. Jim Gilmore says he has the delegates, but Del. Bob Marshall seems fairly confident in his chances.
Mark Warner is practically a lock to win the seat in November, quality candidates like [...]

Is it difficult to find a black person who supports John McCain for President? Well let me put it to you this way: it’s not only difficult, apparently it’s impossible. The woman in this ad shaking McCain’s bony, lifeless hand is an Obama supporter.
If you watch the ad yourself, it’s indisputable.

That’s what the Politico’s Ben Smith is calling them.
Right now I’d give 3-1 odds that our next Vice-President is from Virginia. And even that might be a pessimistic prediction. Both Marc Ambinder and Lynn Sweet, two of the most revered political prognosticators on the intertubes, put both Gov. Kaine and Sen. Webb in the ‘first tier’ [...]

A fortnightly rant, FL-S style.
This is like deja vu all over again.
- Yogi Berra
Thirty years ago this month, I might have been found in a line of motorists at the Montgomery Village (Md.) Amoco station.
There, on even-numbered days, either behind or in front of other drivers with even-numbered license plates, I would wait impatiently and lament the [...]

If you couldn’t stay up late to watch Sen. Jim Webb appear on The Late Show with David Letterman earlier this week, here’s your chance. And congratulation Sens. Webb AND Warner on your new G.I. Bill making it through the Senate by a vote of 75-22!
