RTD: Eric Cantor for Vice-President

CantorBob Rayner of theĀ Richmond Times-Dispatch has penned a column that makes the case for a McCain-Cantor ticket for the Republican Party this year. The rationale is that Rep. Eric Cantor is a) young b) Jewish and c) understands economic issues better than McCain does (which isn’t saying much). Hey, why not? Every other politician in Virginia has been mentioned as VP material at some point in the last year or so, I guess Cantor was due his 15 minutes of baseless speculation. A word of warning though: members of the House of Representatives have a less than stellar record of making into a the White House (Kemp, Ferraro, etc.)

Cantor will face Democratic challenger Anita Hartke for re-election this November.
