Fredericksburg Mayors Race Coming into Focus

Tomzak for MayorTo anyone following the Fredericksburg Mayors race, something has become increasingly obvious: Tom Tomzak should cruise to a second term. The Free Lance-Star has just endorsed Mayor Tomzak over his opponent, fellow Fredericksburg city council member Debby Girvan. No other members of the city council are endorsing Girvan for Mayor. Lately, Mrs. Girvan has been the lone dissenting vote on various issues before the council, making her look even more like she’s out of touch and in her own little world. Plus the fact that Tomzak seems to clearly be winning the battle of “signage” around the city of Fredericksburg doesn’t bode particularly well for her either. It looks like Tomzak’s going to win re-election, and it’s not going to be close.Girvan for Mayor

The election will be held on May 6, the same day as the Indiana & North Carolina presidential primaries.

  1. Signage isn’t necessary an indication of support:

Homer Johnson (D) was running for Sheriff in Caroline County in 2007 and had sings all over the place but only managed to get 21.83% of the vote.

  2. Signage definitely isn’t am indication of support, since some signs were put in yards without permission.

  3. [...] I predicted weeks ago, Tomzak won big. Vice-Mayor Devine and Greenlaw take the two other spots on the city [...]
