At Fred2Blue, we read and publish (most) of the comments sent to us. I say most because sometimes a commenter might go beyond snark to language that is downrright threatening.
What follows is a comment from a reader that takes issue with Chris’ latest McCain post. And so we ask you to pretend you are Fred2Blue. In regards to what follows, should we have a) simply run it as a comment to Chris’ post, b) deleted it, entirely, or c) do what we did here - shine a little disinfecting sunlight on (this) commentary by elevating it to its own post?
Woman’s right to choose: really means, woman’s right to commit murder. Where are all those equal rights feminazis when a baby’s life is on the line? Do Democrats advocate an equal right for fathers to murder their babies, too?
Also, I see you are already parroting the Democratic Party’s line alleging that McCain is too much a “hothead” to be President. I hope that you keep that stupid line as your core strategy, I really do.
As for the Marchin’ Looten King holiday vote, McCain showed that he was unafraid to point out that national holidays should be reserved for National heroes, not used as a political pacifier for rioters, or those who incite them.
I understand the desperation felt by Democrats, especially when one considers all of the money spent during the Primaries, only to end up with a choice between Barack “hate Whitey” Obama and Bill Clintion’s wife. Pathetic! This is starting to look like another Dukakis year for the Dems!
Perhaps Al Gore could be persuaded to step in and save Democrats from this mess?
- “J. Tyler Ballance”
OMG! Hard to believe there are still people like this in Virginia.
So again, we ask: Should we have published this? What would you have done?
Discuss.

It looks like you already decided. I think the tone is a little much, but, he says nothing threatening. Go ahead and fisk it, if you can debate it. How would you disprove his points?
Post it. Why not? It’s attributed to J. Tyler. It’s not your words. For what it’s worth, this pseudononymous poster says this kind of thing on other sites. I don’t see him as a troll. Just someone making comments that are opposite of mine.
[...] has commented on this site and others. So when Fred2Blue decided to treat Ballance as a troll (see here), I was somewhat taken aback. Ballance takes strong positions, but he is not rude or threatening. [...]
It seems to me you do not like the comments since they run counter to your sensitivities. Your little snipe at the end concerning “Hard to believe there are still people like this in Virginia” makes it clear to me that the “enlightened ones” like you seem to think of yourself think that anyone who does not think like you must be mentally deficient. Your rebuttal seems more damning than Ballance’s comments. If you do not want frank opinions, turn off the comments.
Mr. Ballance is a troll.
The man who wrote this goes around posing as a pro-Gore Democrat so he can bash Clinton & Obama. That’s what trolls do. They disagree with you while pretending to be one of you.
The man who wrote this comment started Students for Mitt Romney at the University of Richmond.
Ironically, Romney himself would be disgusted with these comments, since he professed great admiration for Dr. King during his presidential campaign .
You need to enshrine it in a comments hall of fame.
I say go ahead and post it- It is so obvious that he is full of bigotry:
“As for the Marchin’ Looten King holiday vote”
If these are the kind of people supporting McCain- I don’t think the dems have much to worry about. It is sad that there are still people around who think like this.
Also, one statement regarding a “woman’s right to choose”- I wish more time, energy, money, dialogue, commonsense was spent on preventing unwanted pregnancies than attacking women who face a very difficult decision
Post it! He shows his ignorance.
“JTB” gets around on the blog-o-sphere (just google the pen-name). Looks like “Rush lite” or “Rush wannabe” based on the word choices and topics he/she chooses to espouse, and persons groups he/she denounces/critiques.
JTB is entitled to his/her opinion, and has offered it to many folks in many blogs..he/she is an engaged citizen. Cannot say I agree with JTB’s positions…and even suggest he/she have a “go” at their own blog. Perhaps even run for an elected office and develop their platform based on their blog entries. Ya never know!
Gee whiz, what an eye-opener, huh?
