Brian Moran, Moving Alicia’s Law Forward

I’ll admit that I’m not looking forward to watching Sen. Creigh Deeds and Del. Brian Moran battle it out for the Democratic nomination for Governor next year. Having to choose between these two is not going to be easy. I’m a little bit partial to Deeds right now, but that really has nothing to do with Del. Moran. I just think Moran has a lot of options right now and, as Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, he already has substantial influence throughout Virginia. Nobody seems to want to run for Lt. Governor right now, and I doubt any Democrat would want to take on Moran in that race. He’d be a legit candidate for Attorney General due to his past experience as a prosecutor. Staying in the House in hopes of eventually replacing current Speaker Bill Howell certainly has it’s appeal. And of course his brother Jim is keeping a seat warm for him in Congress.

Speaking of prosecuting bad guys, right now Moran is making protecting children from sexual predators a priority. Below is some video taken from earlier this month on the floor of the House of Delegates. (Notice the difference between Moran and Howell in the oration department)
