From the Free Lance-Star (04/05/07):

Argue that a mentally ill person should not be allowed to purchase a firearm without a background check, and conservatives will go on and on about the Second Amendment. Fair enough. I happen to love the Bill of Rights.
But those same people would have a heart attack if someone had a bumpersticker on their car with a [...]

A fortnightly rant, FL-S style:
Okay, after reading this, I know I am going to hear complaints from some of you. That’s the price of having an opinion, I suppose. So, ready your torches and your pitch-forks, and get ready to storm Dr. Frankenstein’s castle.
Here goes:
The citizens of the Fredericksburg Region should not stand in the way of the Kalahari [...]

WE HAVE A WINNER!
Again “Patty” chimes in with the winning thought-bubble: “I wish I had that $5,000 back…..”“Patty” is 2 for 2 in F2B competitions!Emperor Bill is motivated by three things: power, spite, and money. Congratulations, “Patty”!
This week, Gov. Tim Kaine presented what even the FL-S Editorial Page called the “best State of the Commonwealth message delivered [...]

The Republican nominee for the special election in the 99th House District, Lee Anne Washington, is definetly the underdog against Democrat Albert Pollard. The divorce lawyer from Lancaster Co. isn’t the most exciting candidate the GOP could’ve come up with, and I guess they’re in desperate need of a “hook.” So following in the footsteps of John Quincy [...]

Right now, it’s legal for payday lenders to charge as much as 700% annually. This year the General Assembly is reviewing HB12 (Oder), HB249 (O’Bannon) and SB24 (R. Reynolds), bills that would impose a 36% cap. Whether you think 36% is too high or too low, 700% is a joke. There’s a thin line between greedy and immoral.
In 2002 [...]

The 1st Congressional District Committee met Saturday to evaluate 2007 and look ahead to 2008. Phil Forgit couldn’t be there because he had to report for duty as a Naval Reservist this month. First of all, no, Forgit will not be a candidate in 2008. Like many of us, he was disappointed that the DCCC, who [...]

Enough with these booooring campaign topics like terrorism or healthcare. Leave it to the legitimate media, like Playboy (via Political Wire), to ask the hard-hitting questions. Like….Who gets more action? Democrats or Republilcans?
More people under 40 have sex at least once a week than vote for president once every four years.
25% of all Republicans and 35% [...]

God bless the FL-S, a constant source of content and amusement for Fred2Blue.
Submitted for your consideration from today’s edition, not one but TWO really bone-headed errors. (Or, maybe the FL-S knows something we don’t know and the Dem majority in the Virginia Senate just increased by one?) Hmmm.
Reason #23,305, from the FL-S’s front page (top of the fold):
And [...]

For nearly 3 months, Fred2Blue has been doing its best to inform and amuse. And we think we’ve done pretty well.
But what do we need to do to get some more attention?
It’s clear that our coverage has been Stafford-heavy, and we’re trying hard to post more news out of Spotsy and the City of Fredericksburg.
So we [...]
