Pollard to Richmond: Grow Up

Albert Pollard for Delegate

The recent spat between Democrats and Republicans in Richmond has drawn the ire of Albert Pollard, candidate for the House of Delegates. Pollard criticized the partisan upheaval that occurred in the chamber of the House of Delegates last week, stating the incident only furthered the disharmony between both parties and would achieve nothing for Virginians.

“This is the kind of partisan showmanship that bogs down the progress of the Commonwealth. The citizens of Virginia are being let down by a broken system fueled by partisan rancor and driven by the inability to cast aside party interests in favor of the common good.”

The incident in question occurred when a controversial bill through a rare parliamentary maneuver wasn’t allowed to be stricken by it’s patron and instead was sent for a floor vote. Another rare parliamentary maneuver was then used to force members of the House to vote on the bill. While Pollard made clear he would not have supported the bill, he noted that the fervor that ensued has now put the ability for both sides to work together through the remainder of the session in serious jeopardy.
