Check out how the NRA is literally writing Virginia’s gun laws, from an eyewitness:

I am a public school teacher. Just received the following message from the chair of the Prince William Education Association:
…The governor’s proposed budget for the upcoming year does not include any funding for school employee pay raises next year, including teaching and other education professionals and paraprofessionals.
That’s NO dollars, as in zero, zilch, zip, etc.
In the event our state legislators do not hear from their respective constituents on this subject, there is a very good chance that they will adopt the budget as recommended (i.e., without funds for raises for 2008-2009).
If you truly believe that the state should not do anything to help raise the salaries of school employees, by all means, DO NOTHING.
BUT, if you believe that the state should do their (sic.) part to help raise salaries of school employees, then help VEA deliver this message at the General Assembly in Richmond.
Right now 10,000 folks have signed the online petition. WE NEED MORE SIGNATURES! (10,000 signatures is approximately the
employee count in Prince William County!)
So, please, if you have not already done so, go to http://www.fundqualityschools.org/ and sign the electronic petition located there. This site specifically emphasizes sufficient funding for many things, including pay raises. Signing the petition takes mere seconds!
Our legislators must get the message loud and clear that they have both a duty and a responsibility to provide the state’s share of funding for school employee salary increases next year. Be aware that, in order to provide maximum impact, VEA has requested signatures be provided not later than Friday, February 1, 2008. Remember that our colleagues, family members, neighbors, and friends may also support this effort! Please encourage them to do just that.
Together, we can and will impact the state budget process. It is only necessary to speak up clearly, with one unified voice, and make our wishes known.
Thanks, everyone, for your attention to this critical and timely matter!
