Opening his radio show with funeral music yesterday, Fox News host John Gibson callously mocked the death of actor Heath Ledger, calling him a “weirdo” with a “serious drug problem.”
Playing an audio clip of the iconic quote, “I wish I knew how to quit you” from Ledger’s gay romance movie Brokeback Mountain, Gibson disdainfully quipped, “Well, he found out how to quit you.” Laughing, Gibson then played another clip from Brokeback Mountain in which Ledger said, “We’re dead,” followed by his own, mocking “We’re dead” before playing the clip again.
I don’t know about you, but I just crack up whenever I think about a child growing up without a father.
What’s really amazing is that he’s not only passing judgement on a movie that I’d be willing to bet he’s never seen, but he also hasn’t bothered to actually learn the facts surrounding this incident. Ledger may have died from an overdose of sleeping pills because he suffered from a bad case of insomnia. The police don’t know yet, the autopsy was inconclusive.
Awwww, I guess that doesn’t fit John Gibson’s stereotype of young, liberal Hollywood actors. But two can play at this game……since John Gibson is a right-wing shock-jock I’ll just assume he’s popping pills and leaving pornographic messages on his employee’s answering machines as we speak, just like his buddies Limbaugh and O’Reilly.
