Congratulations to Opal and Doug and to the Spotsy Dems!

Stroup is retired from the National Geospatial Agency after a 36-year career.  She has been an active member of the Committee since 2005, chairing both the Membership and Party Building Committees, and [...]

Enough is Enough

Recently Bill Shaheen tendered his resignation as Hillary Clinton’s campaign co-chair in NH after he brought up Sen. Barack Obama’s admission that he used drugs when he was younger. Bill is the husband of fmr. Gov. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), and was one of Hillary Clinton’s biggest early endorsements in the Granite State. I believe Mr. Shaheen [...]

If you have [...]

PETA Protest Planned for KFC in FXBG

Is there any possibility - any possibility at all - that the crew setting up Pres. Bush’s Economic Address tomorrow at Yakadoos is catering with take-out from the KFC on Hanson Ave. in FXBG?
(Jussss Checking)
The following item appears on the PETA website:
Fredericksburg, Va. - Wearing a sexy Santa outfit and holding a sign that [...]

As I finalize the last of my presidential pardons…

(I knew that would get your attention.)
YES, today my transformation from party hack chair to blogger and media/politics “insultant” will be complete.
At 10AM this morning, Stafford Democrats caucus to reorganize the Stafford Democratic Committee and then pick new leadership.  I am standing down as Chair of this historic Committee, which - formed in 1870 - [...]

Hooked on Politics Worked For Me!

I feel great knowing that my Representative in Congress and my home town newspaper don’t know the basic interworkings of the federal government. The 110th Congress convened on Jan. of 2007, following the midterm elections in Nov. of 2006. It will last until Jan. of 2009 after the next round of federal elections in Nov. [...]

Wittman Received 59% of the Vote in Special Election

According to the Richmond Times Dispatch,  several thousand votes in James City Co. went uncounted Tuesday night because of a coding error. This means that Wittman actually defeated Forgit 59.43% to 38.5%. If you go to the SBE’s website right now you’d see that Wittman’s original margin of victory was more than 23% with a 16% turnout. But there was actually 18.6% [...]

Oronato: I Might Not Even Vote Again…

UPDATE:  As predicted, the FL-S Editorial Page has responded to Vince Oronato’s swan song.  Read it here.
(And we thought Stafford politics was nutty… ;) Speaking (some have suggested, ranting) at his final Spotsylvania Board of Supervisors meeting, outgoing Supervisor Vince Oronato (R-Lee Hill District) took some final shots at a Nixonian list of enemies that included everything but the kitchen sink:  local developers, FL-S [...]

Can the GOP Take Back Wittman’s HoD Seat?

Cross-Posted at RaisingKaine
Right-wing blogger Virginia Virtucon reported recently that Bay Banks Inc. President Austin Roberts may be the guy the Republicans put up to try and keep the now vacant 99th District seat in the House of Delegates in GOP hands. You see, this is what Repubicans do when they have no other options. They [...]

Mancini Sworn In, But It’s STILL Not Over

Cross-Posted at RaisingKaine
Tonight the new Democratic Stafford County Board of Supervisors will be sworn in, as well as a much more moderate School Board that includes Patricia Mancini. But Price Jett Jr. is still challenging the results in court following his losing write-in campaign. As Patricia’s husband Joe will tell you, the School Board controls 70% [...]

So What Does it All Mean?

Well now we know what outspending your opponent, getting your clock cleaned in a debate, and admitting you’re a liar on the local news gets you if you’re the Republican candidate in this horribly gerrymandered joke of a “district.” A 21.7% margin of victory as opposed to the 27.48% spread that the late Congresswoman JoAnn Davis received last year over Democratic [...]

Albert Pollard for the 99th HD? Yes, It Is Possible

We are still heartbroken that Albert Pollard narrowly lost his bid to be State Senator from the 28th District (which includes most of the Fredericksburg Region, including all of Stafford County).
But with Rob Wittman now our Congressman-elect, we just might have an opportunity to help Albert Pollard again.  And this time, he could reclaim the 99th House seat that he [...]

The polls have just closed. Click here for results from the SBE.
Shawn at VirginiaDem.org hears that some Republicans are actually helping Independent Lucky Narain with his get out the vote effort.
UPDATE (7:38pm): Looks like Wittman will win this thing easily.
