SHOCKER: FLS Screws Up The Facts!
Posted on December 28, 2007 by Chris Guy
Knowing full well that they were going to lose their “case” against Patricia Mancini, Jett & co. were fully prepared to spin the results. And, to the surprise of no one, the Free Lance-Star was only too happy to oblige. I received this via email from a local man who’s been following the case, regarding Jeff Branscome’s article:
-
Price Jett Jr. got NOTHING out of the suit. No claims of his were allowed. His suit received summary judgment and was dismissed. He must pay court costs for the respondent.
-
The Court did NOT award Price Jett Jr. ANY votes at Ferry Farm or White Oak. Check the transcript. Judge Talliaferro’s exact words were “Even if Price Jett Jr. were awarded”, not “We award Price Jett Jr.”. In fact, the Contest Court could not award or subtract votes from either candidate. Only the Election Board can award or subtract votes. On December 20, 2007, the Stafford County Election Board ruled that the exact count of the election was:
1. Patricia M. Mancini 1,481 votes
2. Write-in 1,424 votes
Nothing was done yesterday to increase Price Jett Jr.’s vote total or decrease Patricia Mancini’s vote total. -
Susan Stimpson’s comments show no understanding of the Court’s ruling or they are merely spin. Counting standards at all precincts were EXACTLY THE SAME. There were no differences in how votes were counted at any precinct.
-
Price Jett Jr. was funded and supported by the Republican Party of Stafford County for an office that is, by statute, NON-PARTISAN. His lawsuit was funded and supported by Speaker Bill Howell. Any claims by Price Jett Jr. or any other Republican spokesperson that this effort to overturn the election of Patricia Mancini was not partisan and political in nature is laughable

The FLS has been running this story on full spin cycle.better call the Maytag Man..
Lets also recall the 11/22/07 FLS’ story that initially proclaimed that Jett sought a recount…(it was not a recount..it was a contest) and included a section of VA code that DID NOT apply to the case.

“Price Jett Jr., a write-in candidate for the Stafford School Board in November, was not awarded any additional votes Thursday during a Circuit Court review of the election. That was unclear in a story yesterday.
It is the policy of The Free Lance-Star to correct factual errors in a timely fashion. We welcome your calls at 374-5400.”
