Several days ago I wrote on this blog about how I’m sick and tired of the series of sleazy attacks on Sen. Obama by various Clinton campaign surrogates. I see no reason to play favorites in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination since, frankly, I have no favorite(s). But it looks like I’m not alone in my disgust.
Bill Shaheen was forced to resign his position in the Clinton NH campaign due to comments he made about Obama’s admitted past drug-use. (former Sen. Kerrey has also apologized to Obama in the last few days as well for spreading the right-wing lie that he attended a madrassa as a child) Bill’s wife, former Gov. Jeanne Shaheen, is a candidate for Senate next year against Sen. John Sununu (R-NH), and had been leading the GOP Senator by huge margins in various polls. But now, as MyDD’s Todd Beeton points out, Democrats have started to abandon Gov. Shaheen and now Sununu leads by double-digits, 52-41. New Hampshire looked like the second best opportunity for a Dem pickup in the Senate, behind Virginia obviously. Now? It’s little wonder Hillary Clinton’s once huge lead in New Hampshire has completely vanished.
This is truly an example of, what Lowell Feld likes to call, the circular firing squad that is the Democratic Party. If you want to dig up dirt on Democrats, don’t look on right-wing sites like Free Republic or RedState. Stick to the leftys like DailyKos or OpenLeft. In fact, here’s a brilliantly sarcastic diary by Mark Warner is God criticizing that very concept.

The same could be said of Senator Deeds and his supporters. His unfortunate decision to announce for Governor two years in advance. Every time I read a blogger describe Del Moran’s accent, I think of Howell’s “real Virginians” comment. We, as Democrats, are better than this. Let’s have a debate of ideas and leave the personal attacks across the aisle.
Balance, Mr. Guy, balance please!!!
I’m not going to intentionally find a reason to get pissed at another Democrat just for the sake of balance. It’s disingenuous.
